Day 2: City Tour in Kathmandu Valley

After having breakfast at the hotel, you will visit the three sites that are classified on the UNESCO World Heritage List:
• Kathmandu Durbar Square, the heart of old Kathmandu. This large square immerses visitors in the history of the city. Ancient Hanuman Dhoka royal palace guarded by the Hanuman monkey god. Kumari Bahal, home of the living goddess Kumari. Statue of KalaBhairab, the ferocious god fighting the demons. All these deities, and how many others, seem to watch over the city. The Nepal people come to honor them in turn and then stop at the markets in Asan Tole or Indra Chowk.
• The Swayambunath stupa surrounded by several other temples is erected on a hill overlooking Kathmandu.
• Located in the south of Kathmandu, Patan, the second-largest city in the valley was once called Lalitpur, the beautiful city. It is considered to be the cradle of Newar arts and architecture, imprinted throughout the valley. Patan is famous for its crafts and metalwork which can be made wonderful souvenirs.

Day 3: Excursion to the Kathmandu Valley

Today, continue your discovery in Nepal by visiting the three other sites that are also classified on the UNESCO World Heritage List:
• The Durbar Square in Bhaktapur, the heart of the city, spreads its old red brick royal palace with 55 carved wooden windows, its many tiled temples and the famous Sun Dhoka, a gilded door finely decorated with bas-reliefs, landforms, perhaps, the most accomplished work of art in the valley.
• Pashupatinath, one of the sacred temples of South Asia, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
• The great stupa of Boudhanath, a wonderful Buddhist site organized around a huge stupa, with “eyes that see everything”. To soak up the atmosphere of devotion, we will come there if possible in the early evening, when hundreds of Tibetans come to pray Kora.
